Music of the Sun is the debut album of Rihanna, which was recorded in 2005 and released on August 30th in the U.S. and on 5 September in Germany under her label Def Jam Recordings.
History and background
With 15 years turned one of her best girlfriends Rihanna producer Evan Rogers ago while holidaying in Barbados. Rogers and his partner Carl Sturken enabled then Rihanna recording of demo material in the U.S. which was sent to various record labels, including Jay -Z, CEO of Def Jam Recordings, which took them under contract.

In August 2005, the hit single Pon de Replay was released and peaked in the USA # 2 on the charts. Pon De Replay is the most successful song of the album.
The second single, If It's Lovin ' That You Want in the U.S. reached only number 36 on the charts and did not have the same success as Pon De Replay.
