History

Installation and reclassifications

The Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 was, according to its numbering, the first erected Nachtjagdgeschwader the Air Force. The preparation was carried out on 26 June 1940, the bar and the group I to III. The group I created this by renaming the group of Destroyer Squadron 1 I. The group II was completely reorganized. The III. Group of the squadron was formed by renaming the IV group of Jagdgeschwader 2 The rod was initially in Arnhem, Deelen later, the groups were set up in Mönchengladbach, Schiphol and Dusseldorf. Use

Between 1940 and 1944 the squadron was responsible for air defense in the Netherlands and the Lower Rhine. Assuming this was the squadron of the 2nd Air Fleet, later the 1st Fighter Division and the 3rd Fighter Division. The squadron had been involved in February 1942 at the firm Cerberus. The data used for the longest airfields of the four groups to 1944 were Venlo, St. Trond, Rheine and Leeuwarden. The end of 1944 the entire squadron was moved to the Reich Air Defense by Germany. In spring 1945, the group I was on Westerland. The Group II in Völkenrode. The III. Group, however, was initially in Störmede, later Neumünster.
