Nadolol is a nonselective beta-blocker with a half-life of about 20 hours. It is used for the therapy of hypertension, angina, and migraine.
Stereoisomerism
The substance contains three stereogenic centers, thus there could be theoretically eight stereoisomers. Since the two hydroxyl groups are, however, always arranged on the mutually fused cyclohexane ring of nadolol cis - position to each other, is the drug of only two pairs of enantiomers which are present as racemates. So nadolol is a mixture of four stereoisomers.
