Nagesh

CK Nagesh (real name: Gundappa Rao, Tamil: நாகேஷ்; born September 27, 1933, Dharapuram, † January 31, 2009 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian film and theater actor. As a comic actor he was, especially in the 1960s, a popular actor of the Tamil film.

Career

He comes from a Kannada family began as an actor in theater groups. . His film debut was Nagesh 1958 in Server Sundaram (1964 ), the screen adaptation of a stage play by K. Balachander, he played his first leading role - the waiter Sundaram who's desperately in love with the rich Radha - and thus introduced the figure of the " tragic hero "in the Tamil film. Nagesh had the role previously embodied on the stage.

Besides his numerous comic roles he also found interest as a character actor, including in AP Nagarajans Thiruvilaiyadal (1965 ) as a poor poet and CV Sridhars Kadalikka Neramillai (1964 ), as well as in serious roles under the direction Balachanders in Neer Kumizhi (1965) and Ethir Neechal (1968). Nagesh occurred together with Sivaji Ganesan, MG Ramachandran and Kamalahasan, as it often co-star actress Manorama has been set aside.

Since the late 1970s, Nagesh played occasionally in Telugu and Malayalam films. His last film was the Kamal Hassan production Dasavatharam (2008). Nagesh for his work has won several awards, including 2007 with the Tamil Kannadasan Award.

Nageshs son Anand Babu is also an actor.
