Nana Ioseliani

Nana Iosseliani (Georgian ნანა იოსელიანი; born February 12, 1962 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian chess player. It is the women since 1980 Grandmaster and also carries the title of International Master.

Her first big international success was winning the - for the first time held for girls - European Youth Championships 1978 in Kikinda, she could repeat in Kula in 1979. In the years 1981 ( shared first place) and 1982 Iosseliani won the Soviet national championship of women. They also won twice the candidates tournament, but lost in each subsequent match for the world championship title winners: 1988 against Maia Tschiburdanidse (7 ½: 8 ½) and 1993 against Xie Jun ( 2 ½: 8 ½).

She came in a total of eight Chess Olympiads used: 1980 in Malta and at the Chess Olympiad 1982 in Lucerne, she went to the Soviet Union, where she won gold each. From 1992 to 2002, she started for Georgia. Since 1994 she played behind Tschiburdanidse on board two. With the Georgian team, she won three consecutive times ( 1992, 1994 and 1996) the gold medal.

The best Elo rating was 2520 Iosseliani (July 1997). Your last date Elo rating is 2475 (January 2003). Since October 2002, she was no longer active in the international chess competition.
