Nana Visitor
Nana Visitor ( born July 26, 1957 in New York City as Nana Tucker ) is an American actress, best known for her role as Kira Nerys in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Life and career
Nana Visitor is the youngest daughter of choreographer Robert Tucker and ballet teacher Nenette Charisse; American actress Cyd Charisse was her aunt. Visitor has a sister and two brothers. At seven, she began to learn in the studio her mother ballet. After high school, where she had her first experience on the stage, she auditioned for a role in a Broadway show before.
She uses the stage name Visitor because she wanted a more colorful name and are not felt particularly connected with the name Tucker, her father got when he was adopted. Visitor comes from the maternal side of her family.
On Broadway played Visitor inter alia in the plays The Gentle People, Gypsy by Angela Lansbury and My One and Only, and later in Los Angeles in a new edition of 42nd Street. Her film debut was in Visitor Witches' Sabbath ( The Sentinel ) with Ava Gardner. There followed a prolonged role in the daily soap Ryan's Hope, as well as more appearances in several television series. In the short-lived sitcom Working Girl 1990 Visitor played as Bryn Newhouse in all twelve episodes in addition to the then lesser-known Sandra Bullock, the series based on the film Working Girl
In 1993, the Visitor role of Kira in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9 ). In 2001, after the end of DS9, Visitor played in the excellent with a Tony Award Broadway play Chicago, Roxie Hart and in six episodes of the television series Dark Angel Madame X aka Dr. Elizabeth Renfro. In the series, Wildfire, she played from 2005 to 2008 when Jean Knight one of the main characters.
With her first husband Nick Miscusi from which she divorced in 1994, she has a son. 1997 Visitor married her former series counterpart Alexander Siddig ( Dr. Julian Bashir, DS9 ), with whom she has a son. In April 2001, the two divorced again. On April 2, 2003, she married the production assistant Matthew Rimmer.
The asteroid discovered in 2001 ( 26733 ) Nanavisitor was named by its discoverer, William Kwong Yu Yeung, who has repeatedly discovered asteroid after her.
