Narail District

Narail ( Bengali: নড়াইল জেলা, Narail Jela ) is an administrative district in the central south-west Bangladesh. The district lies within the superior administrative unit Khulna.

The 990.23 km ² large district is bordered to the north by the district of Magura, on the east by the districts of Faridpur and Gopalganj, Khulna in the south and to the west the district of Jessore.

The largest rivers are the Madhumati, Nabaganga, Bhairab, Chitra and Kajla.

The district created in 1984 Narail is divided into three so-called Upazilas: Narail Sadar, Kalia and Lohagara. Within this administrative subdivision there are 37 Union Parishads (village councils), 649 villages and two municipalities.

In the district capital Narail about 40,000 inhabitants.
