Natashquan, Quebec (township)

Natashquan is a city in the province of Quebec in Canada. It lies on the northwestern shore of the St. Lawrence River, about 980 km from the city of Québec. The ferry across the Bay of St. Lawrence River takes about two hours. The capital of the Côte -Nord administrative region of about 264 inhabitants ( 2006) in two districts.

History

The area around Natashquan was discovered in the mid-16th century by the French navigator Jacques Cartier. The city itself was founded in 1855 by the then owner of the Magdalen Islands.
