Nathaniel Niles (figure skater)

Nathaniel William Niles ( born July 5, 1886 in Boston, Massachusetts, † July 11, 1932 in Brookline, Massachusetts) was an American figure skater and tennis player.

Niles started in figure skating both single drive, as well as in pair skating.

1918, 1925 and 1927, he was U.S. champion in men's singles. He participated in a single run in three Olympic Games. 1920 in Antwerp, he was sixth in 1924 in Chamonix again and sixth in 1928 in St. Moritz 15, 1928, he also denied his only world championship in the individual race, he finished it in tenth and last place.

In pair skating Niles was together with Theresa Weld in 1918 and 1920 to 1927 U.S. Masters. Again, he participated in three Olympic Games, 1920, the pair skating Fourth, Sixth 1924 and 1928 Ninth. They contested three world championships. In 1928 she was seventh, 1930 Sixth and Eighth 1932. Together with Blanchard won five national titles in Niles and ice dancing.

Niles was also a good tennis player. With Edith Rotch he won the 1908 Mixed title at the U.S. Open. In 1917, he lost the U.S. Open final in the men's singles against Lindley Murray in four sets. Niles was inducted into the New England Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000.
