National Alliance for Democracy and Development

The National Alliance for Democracy and Development ( NADD ) ( in German: National Alliance for Democracy and Development) is a coalition of five opposition parties from the West African nation of Gambia.

It was officially founded in January 2005 with the signing of an agreement (Memorandum of Understanding ). The parties involved are:

According to the minutes: " The goal of the Alliance is to put an end to itself continued domination and ensuring the strength of the people, so that they can participate in a reasonable development."

In an interview with the BBC UDP leader Ousainou Darboe was quoted as saying that the objective of the coalition is not easy to remove President Yahya Jammeh from office, but you have some specific policy, including the far-reaching changes in the system of government of the country.

The group hopes in the presidential election on 22 September 2006 and the parliamentary elections in January 2007 as a single force to better compete against President Yahya Jammeh and his ruling party, the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC ).
