Importance

The country road has both nationally and internationally a great traffic engineering importance: Firstly, it is part of the Fifth Pan-European transport corridor and is accompanied along its entire route of the European Route 75, between the border with the Czech Republic and node Mysłowice ( A4 ) is part of European route 462 Secondly, it is an important national transit route from the industrial areas of Silesia in the metropolitan regions of Łódź and Warsaw, as well as to the seaports in Gdansk and Gdynia, due to their fast road -like expansion between the Czech border and Łódź.

History

The reform of the numbering of all state roads the route of the main road on 9 May 2001 was set. Even before 2001, some of today's sections were designated as national road 1 and signposted. At the time of the People's Republic of Poland today, four-lane sections of Piotrków about Częstochowa to Podwarpie as part of the so-called Gierkówka and of Podwarpie about Dąbrowa Górnicza been to Tychy completed as part of the eastern bypass of the Upper Silesian industrial district and designated as national road 1.

The plans of the section of Piotrków about Częstochowa after Podwarpie were launched in 1972. They saw before that the new road led past all the villages and should be expanded highway-like. The road cross-section should be composed of two lanes with two lanes. Following the decision, rather than height free nodes to build crossings, the road was not reported as a motorway. In the late 1980s, the entire track was released. The old parallel route was rededicated in 2001 from national road 91.

With the completion of the running parallel to the main road 1 sections of the A1 motorway, the route of the main road was reclassified from national road 91 as an alternative to toll motorway. This happened in 2011 completely between Gdansk and Torun and 2012 between Kowal and the node Lodz Polnoc. 2007, the section between Bielsko- Biała and Cieszyn was graded on local roads, as parallel to highways extending sections of state roads receive no alternative.

Traffic Safety

The street has several so-called Black dots (Polish: czarne punkty; czarny singular point). These are places where it is particularly prevalent in accidents. You are at Otłoczyn, Bielsko- Biała, between Bogusławice and Grabowa between Łódź and Piotrków in Podwarpie, Brudzowice, Dolna and Gorna Grupa and Łęgowo. The preparation of the black dots began in 1998. Early as 2003, the drivers were not set new signs more due to lack of attention. In contrast, the program was Drogi Zaufania (Eng. about " trust streets " ) prepared by the GDDKiA. As part of this program took place from 2008 on points with increased risk of accidents along the country road various traffic safety measures. For example, new crossings were decorated with lights and new pedestrian crossings.
