NATO Stock Number

The NSN, National Stock Number or NATO Stock Number is an internationally recognized number with which the armies of different countries flag products. In the Bundeswehr, this number is referred to as supply number.

Structure of the number

Generally

The NSN consists of three parts: the group class ( four digits), the country code (2 digits ) and another ID number of 3 4 digits.

Example:

Means group: 12, Class: 34, country code ( National Codification Bureau ( NCB) Code ): 01, serial number: 123-1234.

The NSN without group and class is also referred to as still NIIN ( National Item Identification Number).
