With the name Kaltenwesten the community was unhappy because he considered to be " so could discourage some wine buyers in the fall and thus accrue more sensitive economic damage. " So she gave in May 1884 petition to the chief official Besigheim with the request, the name in to be able to change the west on the Neckar. The chief official was agreed in principle with a name change, but suggested the name West whether the Neckar before, because the place lies not directly on the Neckar, but something away and above. The church insisted on the Neckar, as the river flowed through the mountian and for many residents have economic significance. A registered repeatedly by the Württemberg Ministry of the Interior report of the Royal Statistical Topographic Offices recommended on July 23, 1884 the old name West home, and as with Neckargartach Neckar- the location of the place can be prefixed with the prefix. The municipality, the upper office, the county government of the Neckar circle and the Interior Ministry agreed to this proposal, so that the latter could submit the request to the king, the state of the final decision. Coat of arms and flag

The blazon of the Neckar Westheimer coat of arms is: In split- front plate in silver, a green leaf wreath, back in green with a silver spade. The municipal flag is green and white.

The importance of the ring is unknown. The spade in the coat of arms dates back to the spot sign Neckarwest home or cold West, which also appears on a mountian landmark of 1689: to knock the dirt from the laundry when washing a washing wood, as it was earlier used. A stain seal of 1684 shows among themselves a lying washing wood and one of two down- swept stag antlers surrounded wreath. A seal of 1710 shows a ducal coronet above the washing timber, including the initials KW ( for cold West, the former place names ). From the 19th century until 1938, the municipality Siegel showed in split- front plate the three Württemberg deer antler, behind the washing timber, above the shield, two inclined branches.

The wash wood was less detailed over time, represented more symbolically. In the description of Oberamts Besigheim from 1853 it has been correctly described as a washing timber, however, misinterpreted and described in a redesign of the coat of arms in 1938 as a spade blade. With this redesign, the stag antlers were replaced by the ring of the seal of 1684, on a proposal of the Württemberg Archives Directorate. At the same time the colors of the coat of arms and flag were set. For the final design of today's coat of arms in 1963, eventually became a full spade from the spade blade. Coat of Arms and flag have been awarded the municipality from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior on March 4, 1963.
