Néstor Rossi

Néstor Raúl Rossi, also commonly known as Pipo Rossi ( born May 10, 1925 at the Parque Patricios neighborhood of Buenos Aires, † June 13, 2007 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine football player and coach.

With Argentina won the defender twice the Copa America. At club level, he was part of the golden eras of both CA River Plate in Buenos Aires as well as the CD Los Millonarios in the Colombian capital Bogota.

His enormous Kehl force allowed him to make himself at any time deutlichst over the entire playing field across understandable. Since he also took advantage of this happy, him the nickname La Voz ( The Voice ) has been given.

Playing career

The center-back with the number 5, which often took trips to the midfield, his professional career in 1945 began at CA River Plate and won the championships in 1945 and 1947. He was there part of the famous la Maquina ( "machine" ), one of the greatest club teams of all time. Major players were Juan Carlos Muñoz here, José Manuel Moreno, Adolfo Pedernera Angel Labruna and Félix Loustau. In the same year as Rossi also Alfredo Di Stéfano River Plate joined.

In 1949 he moved to the Colombian capital Bogota to Los Millonarios CD. Also Pedernera and Di Stéfano - with whom Rossi life a close friend - changed in that time to Millonarios. The team soon became the Balet Azul - the blue Ballet - and was considered the best club teams in the same time. This reputation was also manifested on with great success in some legendary tours to Europe. Rossi remained six years in Bogotá, winning the championship four times until 1954, and in 1953 the trophy of Colombia.

1955 Pipo Rossi returned to River Plate and played there until 1958. During this phase, he won three more times, the Argentine championship. In total, he overtook River Plate with five national championships.

His playing career he trailed off when Bonarenser suburb club CA Huracán.

He took with the Argentine national team several times in the Copa America and won the title in the payouts between 1947 and 1957. Additionally, he participated in the World Cup 1958 in Sweden in part.

Coaching career

After Rossi finished his playing career, he worked as a coach. His first stop was at Huracán. From 1961 to 1962 he coached River Plate. In 1974 he again returned to keherte River. Here, the Argentine World Cup captain gave the 1978 Daniel Passarella his debut.

1965 took over Pipo Rossi in his successor prevented by a car accident friend Adolfo Pedernera the training of Rivers main rivals, Boca Juniors and has been the club champion.

On May 30, 1957 married Pipo Rossi Fatima Akil, with whom he had daughters Alejandra Pía and Fabiola Paula. The latter, in turn, married the football player and coach Jorge Burruchaga, scorer of the winning door in the final of the football World Cup in 1986.

Néstor " Pipo " Rossi died on 13 June 2007 at the age of 82 years at a hospital in Buenos Aires after a long illness. He was buried in the cemetery Cementerio Municipal de San Isidro.
