Neu-Ulm (district)

The district of Neu - Ulm is located in the west of the Bavarian administrative region of Swabia. Neighboring districts are in the southwestern district of Biberach in Baden-Württemberg, in the northwest of the Alb- Donau-Kreis and the urban district of Ulm, in the east of the Bavarian district of Günzburg and south of the county Unterallgaeu. Along with these circles, it is part of the Danube -Iller region. Seat of the district office in Neu-Ulm.

Geography

The district extends mostly in the foothills east of the Iller south of the Danube, only the municipality Elchingen is north on the edge of the Swabian Alb. The district area extends to the so-called " Iller- Lech- Platte", a gravel surface that slopes down to the river Iller in the west and the Danube in the north. In the south of the district area rises to heights of up to 610 m.

History

1804, the District Courts Illertissen and rye castle were built. They belonged to the Iller county of the Kingdom of Bavaria, from 1817 to the Upper Danube circle of Swabia and Neuburg (later only Swabia yet) was renamed in 1838. 1842, the district court Neu-Ulm was built from parts of the district courts Günzburg and a municipality of the district court Illertissen. 1852 then was still the district court Babenhausen from the same court rule.

1862 formed the three district courts Illertissen, rye Babenhausen Castle and the district office Illertissen, the seat of the District Court Rye Castle was relocated under charge of some communities at the district office Krumbach to White Horn. From the District Court of New Ulm the same county was formed in 1862. 1880 were allocated to New Ulm in the room White Horn from the district office Illertissen areas. Illertissen gave also some places in the district offices Krumbach and Memmingen. 1891 retired from the city of Neu -Ulm from the district office and was a circular immediate city. In 1939, the district offices were renamed in district offices and the districts into counties. 1940, the City of New Ulm was incorporated into the district of Neu -Ulm, but this was reversed in 1948.

As part of local government reform in Bavaria on July 1, 1972, the district of Neu -Ulm, the majority of the district Illertissen and the district-free city of Neu -Ulm were merged into one district. This was first called also Iller circle as the historical administration district of the Kingdom of Bavaria, but comprised a different area. The southern municipalities of the district Illertissen to Babenhausen were allocated to the district Unterallgaeu that previously the district of Neu -Ulm nationals community Silheim the district of Günzburg. On 1 May 1973, the younger Iller circle was again renamed Neu- Ulm. The City of New Ulm was awarded the status of a district town for the loss of freedom circle.

The district of Neu-Ulm won 1988-2008 over 22,000 residents added or increased by approximately 16 %.

District

On March 16, 2014, the senior teacher Thorsten Freudenberger (CSU ) was elected with 58.5 % as the successor to Erich Josef Gessner during the scheduled Bavarian municipal election. His term will begin on 1 May 2014.

Coat of arms

Over red sign foot, in a horizontal, golden studded, silver bugle, five times left diagonally divided red and silver, covered with a growth of the division line black -robed and golden -winning Moorish woman holding a golden miter in his hands. The three parts of the emblem stand for earls, who held the area rule over significant portions of today's circle area in the Middle Ages. The Moorish woman recalls the Counts of Kirchberg. You were under some places in the Iller. The red inclined bars represent the counts of Berg, who ruled ( at Oberpfaffenhofen ) in the eastern part of the district. The hunting horn is reminiscent of the masters of Neuffen, where white horn and book under stood.

Partnerships maintains the circle with the market town of Prato allo Stelvio in Italy and the district of Mansfeld in Saxony- Anhalt.

Rail

The county seat was in 1853 terminus ago opened by the Bavarian State Railway of Augsburg, which was extended over the following year across the Danube to Ulm. Nearest Train with ICE stop is Ulm Main Station.

In 1862, the Iller Valley Railway was added to Memmingen, which runs from New Ulm Illertissen and Kellmünz south. From it branched off two local railway lines in the Bavarian State Railroad, since 1878 the route sending and white horn and from 1894 onwards the route Kellmünz - Babenhausen. The two local railways were shut down after the Second World War for the passenger. 1964 lost the track of Kellmünz to Babenhausen her passenger, 1966, the route of transmission to white horn. The marked Iller bike trail as a tourist location for cyclists runs through the district on the western edge of south to north. The Danube Bike Trail as a European cycle track to the north of the county.

Economy

While the southern district of Neu -Ulm is structured more rural, is found in the north and along the Iller to Illertissen a variety of sometimes international companies. The largest employers in the county are the Wieland -Werke AG in Vöhringen, which belongs to Daimler AG EvoBus GmbH in Neu -Ulm and Bosch Rexroth in Elchingen. Towns and villages of the district before the municipal reform 1971/78

Before the local government reform of the district of Neu -Ulm had 54 municipalities. By 1908 the then district office in Neu-Ulm district had called a town more. Earlier this year Offenhausen was incorporated into the city of Neu -Ulm.

In the northeast, bordering the county in the district of Günzburg, in the southeast of the district of Krumbach, to the south by the county Illertissen in the west and north by the Baden-Württemberg district of Ulm and to the northwest by the cities of Ulm and Neu- Ulm.
