Neuchâtel-Urtière

Neuchâtel- Urtière is a town in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Neuchâtel- Urtière is 415 m, 3 km west of Pont -de- Roide and approximately 16 km south-southwest of the city of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the basin of the southern side of the creek Ranceuse, at the northern foot of the Lomont in the northern French Jura.

The area of ​​6.21 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Neuchatel, which has a width of approximately 500 m and a length of about 1.5 km. It is drained by the village stream north to Ranceuse and thus to the Doubs. On three sides the agricultural basin is surrounded by steep hills, crowned at its upper edge at different locations of a resistant Kalkfelsband. History

An excellent strategic sheltered position on two ledges above the valley floor of the Lords of Neuchâtel Neuchâtel were built in the period from 1136 to 1139 its headquarters. The rule of Neuchâtel ( once Neufchatel ) became one of the most important rule of the region in the Middle Ages. Attractions
