The main flow of railway traffic follows the Naab Valley from north to south; here the AG Bayerische Ostbahnen has built in the year 1863 a train from Regensburg to Weiden, which was soon extended beyond Pressath to Bayreuth.

The following year in 1864 then came the stretch of willows on Neustadt ( Waldnaab ) added to Eger. The 1875 by willow on Weiherhammer completed towards Neukirchen- Nuremberg train was a work of Eastern Railway.

The further expansion of the network took over the Bavarian State Railways: Since 1878, the Nuremberg- Marktredwitz runs through the circle area in the extreme northwest at Vorbach. The 50-kilometer branch line Neustadt- raft - Eslarn 1886 took its operation to Vohenstrauß on, reached the border town of Waidhaus 1900 and 1908 was completed. The diversion of raft to Flossenbiirg came only in 1913 - initially only for freight - to do so.

In 1904 the old circle Eschenbach got its railway connection through the route Pressath - Grafenwoehr - Kirchenthumbach. Soon after, was written in 1910 in Grafenwoehr a branch line railway station to the camp, which has long restricted to military traffic was used for military training area.

Passenger traffic on the local railways has been shut down as follows:

In order for the passenger transport network comprises only 89 km distances, compared with the peak of 168 kilometers.
