Neuvelle -lès- Cromary is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Neuvelle -lès- Cromary situated at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, 3 km south of Rioz and about 17 km north of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the south of the department, to the north of the river valley Ognon, on the plateau west of the Taleinschnitts the Ruisseau de Malgérard.

The area of ​​6.29 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Neuvelle, which is on average 270 m. It consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly layers of the upper Jurassic period. To Neuvelle -lès- Cromary heard the settlement Verjoulot (270 m) on the southern outskirts of Rioz. Neighboring communities of Neuvelle -lès- Cromary are Rioz in the north, and Traitiéfontaine Chambornay -lès- Bellevaux in the east, Sorans -lès -Breurey in the south and Montarlot -lès- Rioz in the West.

History

Several findings indicate that the municipality of Neuvelle was already inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period. Population

With 344 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Neuvelle -lès- Cromary is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 246 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s again. Since then, the population has more than doubled.

Economy and infrastructure
