New Song
New Song is an American Christian -music band from Valdosta, Georgia.
Band History
The band was founded in 1981 by Eddie Carswell, Billy Goodwin, Eddie Middleton, and Bobby Apon. In the early years, they released albums regularly and changed several times the label. Until the mid- 90s they had established itself in the field of Christian pop music and were fixed to the program of the relevant radio stations. Not even the separation of Middleton and Apon changed nothing. From 1993, followed by numerous line-up changes, only Carswell and Goodwin were consistently the band.
Shortly before her 20th anniversary New Song made a further step forward. The Christmas Song The Christmas Shoes the first time they had a hit on the Billboard Hot 100, the song was also # 1 on the adult contemporary charts. The associated album Sheltering Tree brought them the first time a ranking among the best pop albums.
The two following albums could be placed on the Billboard 200. Between 2003 and 2009 it became a little quiet around the band. During this time, a live, a best-of- and another Christmas album was released. In the spring of 2010 New Song returned with Give Yourself Away back in the album charts.
