Valdosta is a city in Lowndes County in the U.S. state of Georgia, United States. In 2010 it had 54 518 inhabitants.
Valdosta was founded on December 7, 1860. The residents had originally lived in the nearby Troupville, a jetty for steam boats on the Withlacoochee River. When the new railway line was built in six kilometer distance to Troupville past, people moved to the railroad and founded Valdosta.
Valdosta is home to the Valdosta State University, which was founded in 1906 as South Georgia State Normal College for Women.
In Valdosta, there is the leisure park " Wild Adventures ".
Doc Holliday visited here the school before studying dentistry in Philadelphia.
