Nicaragua national football team

The Nicaraguan national football team is the national football team of the Central American state of Nicaragua. It is one of the least successful football teams in Central America. So far, it's the team not been able to qualify for a World Cup. The first and currently the only qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup was achieved in 2009, the qualifications presented the 5th place in the Copa Centroamericana Nations Cup 2009.

World Cup Qualifiers

As part of the qualification for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, the team met in the first round of the CONCACAF region to the national team of the Netherlands Antilles, which was 21 places among Nicaragua in the FIFA world rankings. After Nicaragua had already lost all three previous matches against the Netherlands Antilles, and the two qualifiers went in February 2008 at home in Diriamba with 0:1 and 0:2 away lost. Thus, the selection was eliminated in the first round.
