Nicolae Lupescu

Nicolae Lupescu ( born December 17, 1940 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player and coach. He completed a total of 368 games in Divizia A and the Austrian National League A. He also took part in the World Cup 1970.

Career

Nicolae Lupescu began in 1954 at the age of 13 years at ICAR Bucharest to play soccer. He first played in clubs unterklassigen his hometown of Bucharest. After his stint at Flacara Roşie Bucharest (1958-1959), he spent the 1960/61 season to AS Academia Militara Bucharest in the Divizia B. After another year in Divizia B with Olimpia Bucharest in 1962 he received the opportunity to Rapid Bucharest to change. There he announced on September 16, 1962 his debut in Divizia A. After he had not been in his first season first-team regular in season 1963/64, he achieved his breakthrough. During his time at Rapid he won a league title and a Romanian Cups and was always represented in the top tier of the league. In 1972 Lupescu got the opportunity to move abroad and joined the Austrian National division FC Admira / Wacker. There, he finished his career in 1977.

Lupescu denied a total of 14 European Cup games, all for Rapid Bucharest.

National

Lupescu completed 21 missions for the Romanian national football team. His first assignment was on June 17, 1964 against Yugoslavia. Lupescu was for the Football World Cup 1970 nominated by national coach Angelo Niculescu in Mexico and used in all three games.

Lupescu also has to have 15 matches in the Romanian U23 national team.

Coaching career

After the end of playing career Lupescu returned in the fall of 1977 returned to Romania and initially supervised the team of Mecanica Fina Bucharest, with the 1979 reached the summit in the Divizia B. This club he also coached for the seasons 1980/81 and most recently in 1984/85, after he had been in between coach of Rapid Bucharest (1979 /80), FC Soimii IPA Sibiu (1981 /82) and Gloria Buzău ( 1982-1984 ). In the 1985/86 season he was once again head coach of Rapid Bucharest in Divizia A.

Relationship

Nicolae is the father of former Romanian international's Ioan Lupescu, which he has edited after withdrawing from their own coaching career as a manager.
