Nicolaus Gallus

Nicholas Gallus, also: Hahn, Han, Gall (c. 1516 in Köthen (Anhalt), † July 15, 1570 in Bad Love cell ) was a Lutheran theologian and reformer.

Life

As the son of the Mayor Nicholas Hahn was born in Köthen. Already in 1530 he was enrolled in Wittenberg and in 1537 there was Magister. With letters of Philipp Melanchthon, he traveled to southern Germany. When the Reformation was introduced in Regensburg and the Council has asked a respected Lutheran preacher from Nuremberg, Johann Forster first went out after him, Jerome Nopus from Wittenberg. This took Gallus 1543 as a deacon with, after he had been ordained by Bugenhagen.
