Nicotinyl (also Pyridylmethanol ) is no longer in trade befindlicher drug which has been used for the treatment of dyslipidemia.

Clinical information

The drug is indicated for hyperlipoproteinemia type II - V Fredrickson. He also has a peripheral vasodilator effect ( vasodilation ).

Pharmacological properties

Nicotinyl alcohol reduces the total cholesterol, VLDL -, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood serum, by decreasing the synthesis of VLDL. It is oxidized to nicotinic acid in the liver.
