Nina Zilli

Nina Zilli, actually Maria Chiara Fraschetta, ( born February 2, 1980 in Piacenza) is an Italian singer. She represented Italy at the Euro Vision Song Contest in 2012.

Life

Born in Piacenza Maria Chiara Fraschetta grew up in Gossolengo. At the age of 13, she moved to Ireland and began classical vocal training. At 17, she formed her first band, The Jerks called themselves. After they have finished school, she spent two years in the United States, where she lived in Chicago and New York City. Back in Italy, she performed in 2000 and 2001 as Komoderatorin on the television program Roxy Bar of the Italian transmitter TMC2. 2001 also worked as a VJ for the Italian offshoot of the television station MTV. In the meantime, she performed with her ​​new band Chiara e gli Scuri, in 2001 her first single, Tutti al mare published.

From 2009 Fraschetta occurred under the stage name Nina Zilli. Zilli derives it from the mother's maiden name, while the first name Nina is geared to their artistic model Nina Simone. At the end of the festival, it was selected as the Italian representative for participation in the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 in Baku by the TV channel RAI. As a song for this contest Per semper was initially planned, but was later changed to L' amore è femmina. As their second studio album L' amore è femmina appeared on February 15, 2012.
