Nittendorf is a market in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg is situated 15 km west of Regensburg between Black Laber and Naab in the eastern foothills of the Franconian Jura.

History

The oldest documented site of the municipality is Etterzhausen, which was first mentioned in the 9th century. Most other districts date back to the 12th century. The places Nittendorf and Etterzhausen were devastated during the Thirty Years' War. In Eichhofen and Schönhofen long time there was hammer mills for ore processing. see also Postal Schönhofen

The church today Nittendorf was 1 July 1972 as part of the municipal government reform by the merger of five previously independent municipalities Eichhofen ( in 1945 or 1946 to parts of the territory of Rothenbügl enlarged) Etterzhausen, Haug Ried, Nittendorf and Schönhofen. On 12 November 2003 Nittendorf was raised to market.

Attractions

  • Parish Church of St. Catherine in Nittendorf: The church was built in 1730 by the monastery Prüfening. The older tower is likely to come from the predecessor. 1895, the church was enlarged. Inside, a wooden statue of Mary on the crescent moon of the year 1500, several grave stones and confessionals with Akanthusschnitzereien bemerkenswert.2012 have been placed above the entrance in a niche donated by a fellow club Nittendorf statue.
  • Schlossbrauerei Eichhofen
  • Castle Etterzhausen: The two-story facility with an octagonal tower was built in 1590 by the then owner in its present form from Etterzhausener Hans Siegmund of Erlbeck. Following the destruction by fire during the Thirty Years War, it was rebuilt. In 1799 it was expanded by the then owner Friedrich Freiherr von Dittmer. Since 1858 it is owned by the Fromm family.
  • Castle Eichhofen ( in brewery owned): The three-story today, rectangular building dates from the early 16th century and was expanded in 1866.

  • Den of robbers in Etterzhausen: The 24 meters long and 7 meters high cave offered well in recent dangerous times, the inhabitants of the environment protection. About the cave ( of the House called ) are the remains of a square tower obtained which probably served as an observation tower.
  • Fortified church in Penk
  • House Will Rock: The House Will Rock is a Werdenfelser Mountain House. 1906 was built at an exhibition in Nuremberg. Geller of Kühlwetter bought the show house, it was as a private villa near Eichhofen up and gave him his name. In 1929 it was purchased by the diocesan presence and used it as a youth recreation center. 1934 and 1935 the house was extended with two chapels and used as a retreat center. 1940 confiscated the SS and used it as a transit camp. After further uses as a home for sick evacuees and then as infant hospital in the city of Regensburg in 1945 it seized by the Americans. Since 1947 it is again retreat house.
  • Church in Schönhofen: Simple medieval church with a square tower and pyramidal roof, The west wall consists of bedrock. Remarkably, a memory stone of the noble family of Sauerzapf of 1708.
  • Bergleutkirchlein St. Nicholas in Haug Ried: The small Romanesque church was built around 1150 by miners who mined iron ore in the area. The walls are built of large blocks and one meter thick. According to legend, the church said to have been consecrated by St. Boniface.
  • St Mary of the beech in the district Undorf
  • From Grafenrieder way and its cross streets off the walkers offers a beautiful view over the lower Naab, over the entire northern part of the city of Regensburg and the nearby mountain wedge. On clear days, some hills of the Bavarian Forest are visible from there, for example, of the 60 kilometers to Pröller.
