Niwki, Strzelce County

Niwki ( German: Niewke ) is a town in Poland in Upper Silesia in the community Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship.

Niwki located nine kilometers west of the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 25 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

Neighboring towns of Niwki in the West Ligota Dolna (low Ellguth ), in the north Posnowitz ( Poznowice ), to the east Kalinowice ( Kalinowitz ) and in the south Ligota Gorna (Upper Ellguth ) and Wyssoka ( Wysoka ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 voted 91 voters to remain in Germany and 25 for Poland. Niewke remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 188 inhabitants in the village. On July 4, 1936, the town was renamed in United territory. 1939, the place had 189 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Niwki and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
