Nižné Nemecké

Nižné Nemecké (Hungarian Alsónémeti, Ukrainian Нижнє Німецьке ) is a small parish in the extreme east of Slovakia on the border with Ukraine

History

The place was first mentioned in 1353. Since 1405 was called the place Kuzepnempty. Since 1920 the place has the name Nižné Nemecké this because most of the inhabitants were German or Hungarian.

During the Slovak -Hungarian War in 1939, this village was the goal of Hungarian air raids.

2012, a 700 meter-long tunnel was discovered on the border with Ukraine, which was used for the smuggling of cigarettes. The EU therefore had to cope with about 50 million estimated annual loss of € Tabacksteuer.

Culture and Sport

In the village there is a library and a football pitch.
