Nkoranza District

The Nkoranza District is one of 138 districts in Ghana. It is located in the center of Ghana in the Brong- Ahafo Region, where one of 19 regional districts. The Nkoranza District borders on the districts of Kintampo South, Pru, Atebubu - Amantin and Techiman Municipal in the Brong- Ahafo Region. Nkoranza also borders the Ashanti Region with their districts Offinso and Ejura - Sekyedumase. Geography

The Nkoranza District lies at an altitude 153-305 meters above sea level. The district is crossed by many small rivers and streams; major rivers are the Pru, Tanko, Fanku, Abubre and Agimfra.

Economy

The economy in the district has its basis in agriculture, in the 82 percent of total employment. With these employees, however, only a share of 76.7 percent is earned on the income of all households in the district. Agriculture

In the district, 82 percent of all employees work in agriculture. Of all farmers 66 percent on family land and another 29 percent work with leased land. Only 6 percent of the farmers are themselves owners of farmland. Both the traditional rulers ( Chief's ) as well as the land in family ownership shall be managed by a certain monthly payment.

Constituencies

In the district Nkoranza was divided into two constituencies. In the constituency Nkoranza North Kwame Ampofo Twumasi won for the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) in the 2004 parliamentary elections the seat in the Ghanaian parliament.
