Nodes of Ranvier (band)

Nodes of Ranvier is a metalcore band with Christian texts from Sioux Falls, South Dakota (USA). They existed between 2000 and 2008.

Band History

Nodes of Ranvier in the summer of 2000 by singer Thomas Hentges, the two guitarists Zack Poppinga and Jon Parker, bassist Jon debt and drummer Ryan Knutsongegründet. Throughout the band's history had Nodes of Ranvier total of 18 different members, remains of which only one, the founding member Jon Parker ( guitar), until the end of the band. The band's name is a term used in neurobiology and is translated into German as Node of Ranvier.

2002, a split CD with the band Broken Innocence appeared on the small independent label winter in July. Subsequently, the band signed to Facedown Records, where in the same year the debut album Lost Senses, More Innocence appeared. Then Nick Thomas joined them as second guitarist, but already in July 2004 focused on Spill the Cancvas. In the meantime, followed the self-titled second album of the band. For Thomas, it was Jake Sefek of To Drown Her Sorrows. A tour with The Agony Scene and Becoming the Archetype followed, and then the line-up broke again.

Despite all the problems of 2003, The Years to Come appeared with Nick Murphy on vocals and Terry Taylor on bass. It was followed by a tour with Still Remains and subsequently with The Warriors. 2007 appeared the last album Defined by Struggle with Kyle Benecke on vocals, Josh Ferrie on drums on Victory Records. However, the hoped-for deal with the metalcore leader was ultimately became an icon of the band. After a short push on the summer of 2007 the label dropped the band. On 31 December 2008, the last appearance of the band took place, then Nodes of Ranvier indefinitely been put on hold.

Music style

Nodes of Ranvier play metalcore with predominantly Christian texts. The music is in the typical style of the genre and is based on the riffing and enforcement and Breakdwons. In part, musical design features of the hardcore punks, but also of Black, Death and Thrash Metal to take effect.
