Norberto Yácono at CA River Plate

Norberto Antonio Yácono ( born January 8, 1919 in Buenos Aires, † November 1985 in Avellaneda ) was an Argentine football player. CA River Plate he was very successful and won several times the Argentine championship. Later Yácono still played at Club América in Mexico. He also won the Argentine national football team the South American Championship in 1947.

Career

Club career

Norberto Yácono played the first sixteen years of his footballing career at CA River Plate of Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, where he was also born in 1919. With River Plate, which ( in German: millionaires ) then as Millonarios were known, he was part of the famous Maquina matches as Ángel Labruna, Juan Carlos Muñoz, Adolfo Pedernera, José Manuel Moreno and Félix Loustau and won a number of successes. But the Argentine championship won Norberto Yácono in the jersey of River Plate six times. In 3-2 -5 system of Maquina Yácono formed together with Aarón Wergifker and Ricardo Vaghi the defense of the team. He made 1938-1953 393 league appearances for CA River Plate, but he managed not a single hit. With his 393 games in league play, he is still the player with the fourth- most games in Dress by River Plate, behind Reinaldo Merlo (526 games), Amadeo Carrizo (520 games) and Ángel Labruna with 515 games.

His first championship with CA River Plate Norberto Yácono celebrated in the season of 1941, when it was first in La Liga, four points ahead of San Lorenzo de Almagro. The following year, the team coached by Renato Cesarini was able to defend the title and ranked again after completing all game days at number one, this time six points ahead of San Lorenzo. Three years later, in 1945, succeeded again until the championship. Under the new coach José María Minella one was winning the Primera División four points before the eternal rivals CA Boca Juniors. After the 1947 season once the championship was won, it was not until 1952, before River Plate was the best team in Argentine football again. The Primera División in 1952 was finished in first place, one point ahead of the Racing Club, who had previously celebrated in the years a title hat-trick. With the end of the season in 1953, the time of Norberto Yácono at River Plate came to an end. He left the club and went to Mexico for Club América in the capital Mexico City, where he continues to be active until 1958 played football, but without gaining great success. In 1958, Norberto Yácono ended his footballing career at the age of 39 years.

After the end of his active career Norberto Yácono worked as a trainer, among other things for the Argentine clubs Lanús CA, CD Godoy Cruz and Sportivo Italiano. He also worked as a youth coach at River Plate.

National

Between 1942 and 1951 graduated from Norberto Yácono total of fifteen appearances for the national team of his native country. In these internationals he succeeded no scoring. After debuting on May 25, 1942 at the context of the Copa Lipton in a game against Uruguay, he was also appointed to the squad for the South American Championship 1947 in Ecuador three years later. The tournament ended for Argentina with the first place and thus the victory against Paraguay, which Argentina presented both the best attack and the best defense and had to give up a point in a 1-1 draw against Chile only.
