North Bank Division
The North Bank Region (formerly North Bank Division ) is one of six administrative units of the West African country Gambia. The region corresponds to the Local Government Area Kerewan.
Geography
The 2256 km ² large region, with the headquarters of the administrative unit in Farafenni ( 19,512 inhabitants) in the district of Lower Baddibu is divided into six districts. With 178 612 inhabitants ( 2013 calculation ), the region extends from the Atlantic coast, north of the Gambia River to the Central River Region in the east.

The six districts are: Lower Niumi, Upper Niumi, Jokadu, Lower Baddibu, Central and Upper Baddibu Baddibu.

Population
According to a survey of 1993 ( former census ), the largest population group, the Mandinka with a share of around four -tenths, followed by the Fula and Wolof. The distribution in detail: Mandinka 41.9%, 16.4%, Fula, Wolof 30 %, Jola 0.7 %, 0.5% Serahule, 6.3% Serer, Aku 0.1 %, 1.1% Manjago, 2.1% and 0.9 % Bambara other ethnicities.

The management unit is headed by a governor since 2007 Eduwarr Seckan is incumbent of this position.
