P'yŏngan - pukto ( North P'yŏngan ) is a province in North Korea. It was created in 1896 as a result of the division of the province P'yŏngan -do in P'yŏngan - pukto and P'yŏngan - namdo. The provincial capital is Sinuiju.
Geography
The province is bordered on the southwest by the Yellow Sea, on the northwest by the People's Republic of China and Sinuiju Special Administrative Region, on the northeast by Chagang -do and in the southeast P'yŏngan - namdo.
Administrative divisions
The province P'yŏngan - pukto divided in three cities and 22 counties. They separated in 2002 from parts of the city of Sinuiju and parts of the counties Ch'ŏlsan, Ŭichu and Yŏmchu of the province and made it the Special Administrative Region of Sinuiju.
