Action

The unsettled Charlotte Vale lives with her domineering mother in Boston under one roof. Your sister in law Lisa sees that Charlotte is and brings the psychologist Dr. Jaquith into the house to have a nervous breakdown. Jaquith takes her to his sanitarium. There she develops into an elegant, independent woman. She is healthy and could be discharged home, but is afraid to return there. Lisa suggests to take a cruise to South America. After a trip to the Sugar Loaf in Rio de Janeiro Charlotte and Jerry miss the ship and spend a first night together. Five days they stay in Rio and then fly to Buenos Aires, to go back on board the ship. You are in love, but hope to after the cruise not to see again.

Charlotte returns to Boston to her family, is surprised at how it has changed, but her mother is fighting back to take control of her daughter. Charlotte begins a relationship with Elliot Livingston. At a party, she suddenly meets Jerry Durrance again. You will be their true love for Jerry and acknowledges that her relationship with Elliot Livingston is not influenced in the slightest by such passionate feelings. When she solves the relationship with Elliot, it comes to a fight with her mother, who then gets a heart attack and dies. Charlotte feels guilty for the death of the mother and returns to Dr. Jaquith back to the sanatorium. There she meets Tina, the daughter of Jerry Durrance, which is also there in psychological treatment. Charlotte takes care of the girl and takes her to her house finally to Boston. There they come Jerry and Dr. Jaquith visit. Jerry is excited about the positive change in his daughter. Tina to stay with Charlotte. Charlotte tells Jerry that she can stay only under the condition with her when Jerry and they end their love affair. Jerry feels guilty that he has finished with his presence the relationship to Charlotte Elliot. However, they replied that they would be near him by Tina's presence forever.
