Nusshof

Nusshof is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Nusshof is a small farming village and to Kilchberg Liedertswil and the third smallest municipality in the canton. The neighboring communities are (from north clockwise) Magden, Wintersingen, Sissach, Hersberg and Olsberg ( exclave ).

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of Nusshof dates from the year 1945. It shows a two-bladed green hazel, with three red hazelnuts on a white ground. The community had opted for the hazelnut because it fits the place name and is well heraldic display.

History

1372 the land belonged to the monastery Olsberg. In the late Middle Ages, a village which fell in 1461 under the rule of the city of Basel was. It is believed that a conspicuous tree of the settlement has given its name. The first written record dates from 1504, when the court by the Nussbom.

School

By 2010 Nusshof still had a village-owned primary school with multi- class lessons. After that, the school was merged with that of Wintersingen where now taking place and the lessons.
