Oberrothorn

The Oberrothorn is a 3'414 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the canton of Valais, close to Zermatt. The Oberrothorn is located about 6 km east of Zermatt.

The completely ice-free peak structure and a marked path, most recently over the wide, debris-covered ridge, making the Oberrothorn to one of the highest " walking summit " of the Alps. The Oberrothorn provides a comprehensive view of more than twenty four peaks of the Valais Alps, including the cathedral, Täschhorn, Rimpfischhorn, Strahlhorn, Matterhorn, Dent Blanche, Monte Rosa and white horn.

Rise

An ascent from Zermatt via Findeln and the Berghaus Fluealp lasts due to the difference in altitude of 1,800 meters about 5 hours. By underground Sunnega ( 2,288 m above sea level. M. ) and the subsequent cable cars to the Blue Stove ( 2,580 m above sea level. M. ) and Unterrothorn ( 3'104 m above sea level. M. ), the rise time can be reduced drastically.
