Obinna Nwaneri

Obinna Nwaneri ( born March 18, 1982 in Lagos) is a Nigerian footballer who currently plays for Kelantan FA in Malaysia. The name " Obinna " means in Igbo father 's heart. He plays as a central defender and his strengths include speed, control and timing.

Career

He began his career with the Nigerian club Julius Berger FC and then when Enyimba FC. In January 2007, he joined the Swiss club FC Sion. 2008, Trabzonspor showed interest in him, but he remained for the time being at FC Sion to change after the end of the 2009/10 season to Kazma SC to Kuwait. In January 2012 he moved to three months Vereinslosigkeit to Kelantan FA.

Career ladder

  • 2000: His talent was discovered at the Nigerian club Julius Berger FC and was drafted into the professional team. He also contributed a large part to the fact that his club won the Nigerian Premier League.

  • 2004: He was captain of FC Enyimba FC and won the CAF Champions League final against Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia on penalties 5-3. He even shot the decisive fifth penalty. However, in this year they did not win the Nigerian Premier League. The Orlando Pirates negotiated with Obinna and his club. But the transfer burst, because you could not agree on a transfer fee.
  • 2004-2005: Obinna moved in January 2005 to Tunisian club Espérance Tunis.
  • 2005-2006: He was nominated for the Nigerian national football team for the African Cup of Nations 2006.
  • 2006-2007: In January 2007, he signed a contract with FC Sion
  • 2008: The Turkish club Trabzonspor showed interest in him, but he remained at FC Sion.
