Odal (rune)

Othala ( ᛟ ) is the 24th and final rune of the Elder Futhark ( the eighth rune in the third ätt ) with the phonetic value of "O". You lack the Norse runic alphabet. The reconstructed Proto-Germanic name probably means " ( fundamental) possession " and appears in the runic poems as Old English or Gothic Ethel utal.

Use as Odal Rune

The Odal " Rune " is an invention of the author and nationalist esotericist Guido von List in 1902 from the " Armanenfuthark " whose shape in contrast to the invented name and the equally fictional interpretation loosely based on the Othala rune.

The migrant bird song " Hohe Tannen have the stars ," which in the song book " The young people," the Federation of German ring Scouts was first published in 1923, another verse was added during the period of National Socialism, in the rune is summoned:

Odalrune on blood-red cloth, Woe unto us forward to the hardest fight. Odalrune, you mark all outdoors, Be dedicated to the fight of our lives.
