History

At the time of the Roman province of Lusitania crossed a Roman road of Antoninus Pius, the current community. From this period were found here, among others Pottery, coins, building material, mosaics and tombs. The Dominican André de Resende (1500-1573), an archaeologist and historian of classical music, found here a Roman distance column ( Miliarium ) that took a local course of the Roman road.
