Odos

Odos is a commune with 3220 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Hautes -Pyrénées in the Midi-Pyrénées region. It belongs to the district of Tarbes and Canton Laloubère.

History

Odo goes back to Gallo- Roman oppidum one. The castle, which belonged to the kings of Navarre, was from 1490 by Madeleine de France ( 1443-1495 ), sister of King Louis XI. rebuilt by France, widow of Gaston de Foix (1444-1470) and mother of King Francis Phoebus of Navarre and Queen Catherine of Navarre. Here the poet died in 1549, Margaret of Angoulême, sister of King Francis I of France.
