Oleszno, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Oleszno ( German Welsch Castle ) is a village in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. It belongs to the Gmina Drawsko Pomorskie ( urban and rural community of Pomerania ) in the powiat Drawski ( Dramburger circle).

Geographical location

The village is located about 80 kilometers east of Szczecin, about 8 kilometers south of Drawsko Pomorskie ( Pomerania ) in Pomerania. Neighboring towns in the northeast Mielenko Drawskie (small Mellen ) and to the west Ziemsko ( Zamzow ).

History

Welsh castle was formed in the 13th century as the center of an administrative district in the Duchy of Pomerania. This district came in 1284, first as a pledge possession, to the Margraviate of Brandenburg. The Marquis, however, awarded in 1297 to the north of Welsh castle located Dramburg the city rights, thus outperforming Welsh castle.

1320 Welsh castle was one of the places the IV gave the Pomeranian Duke Wartislaw the nunnery in Pomerania as equipment for a newly created company constituting in Pomerania monastery. However, the founding of the monastery did not materialize.

Welsh castle belonged to 1815 as part of the circle of Pomerania to the Neumark. As part of the reorganization of the administrative structure in the Prussian state after the Congress of Vienna of Pomerania and hence Welsh castle was transferred to the province of Pomerania.

After the Second World War came Welsh castle, like all of Pomerania to Poland. It was the Polish place names Oleszno.
