Olivier Schmitthaeusler

Olivier Schmitt Haeusler MEP ( born June 26, 1970 in Strasbourg, France) is a Roman Catholic religious priest and Vicar Apostolic of Phnom - Penh.

Life

Olivier Schmitt Haeusler resigned after his science degree at the University of Strasbourg in 1989 in the Strasbourg Seminary. From 1991 to 1994 he was Professor of French at the Catholic Sapientia University in Osaka, Japan. In 1996, he completed a master's degree in Fundamental Theology. 1997/98 he completed a MAS and was awarded his doctorate. In 1997, he joined the Congregation of the Mission in Paris ( Société des Missions Etrangères de Paris MEP) and was ordained a deacon in 1997. At the Institut Catholique de Paris, he studied Biblical Studies (Bachelor 1998). Olivier Schmitt Haeusler received on 28 June 1998, the ordination. He learned from 1998 to 2001, the Cambodian language, and from 2002 to 2006 as pastor in Kampot. From 2003 to 2005 he taught church history at the seminary in Phnom Penh. In 2003 he founded a kindergarten and school, " St. Francis School Complex Takeo "; In 2006 he founded the " John Paul II Centre for Life ," which primarily serves families with AIDS cases.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 24 December 2009 Titular Bishop of Castra Catabum and appointed him as Apostolic Koadjutorvikar of Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The episcopal consecration on March 20, 2010 He received his Emile Destombes MEP, Vicar Apostolic of Phnom Penh; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, nuncio in Cambodia, and the Auxiliary Bishop of Strasbourg, Christian Kratz. He is also the Vicar General in Phnom Penh and Cambodian Secretary of the Bishops' Conference. In 2009 he founded the "Higher Institute of Saint Paul - computer et Agriculture" in Takeo province.

On 1 October 2010 he was named Pope Benedict XVI. officially became the successor of Émile Destombes and thus Apostolic Vicar Apostolic Vicariate of Phnom Penh.
