Opatovce nad Nitrou

Opatovce nad Nitrou ( until 1927 slovak " Opatovce "; Attersee German, Hungarian Bajmócapati ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1466 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), the Region for Okres Prievidza, part of Trenčín heard.

Geography

The municipality is located in the central part of the basin Hornonitrianska kotlina on the right bank of Nitra. The municipal area is flat and slightly hilly. The center is located at an altitude of 270 m nm and is a few miles from Bojnice and Prievidza away.

History

The place was indirectly mentioned for the first time in 1113 in a document, which defines the boundaries of the former belonging to the abbey Nitransky property. For this reason, the village was founded later received (1424 mentioned as Apathy ) takes its name from the abbey. It belonged since 1468 to the estate of Skačany and since 1777 for Nitransky chapter.

1828 are listed 63 houses and 444 inhabitants.

Previously, the majority of the population was employed in agriculture, however, today many are working in industrial companies in the area.
