Orava (region)

Orava ( Arwa German, Hungarian Árva, latin Arva, Polish Orawa ) is the name of a landscape in the north of Slovakia. Derived from it is the name of the former Hungarian county Arwa, the name itself is derived from the main castle of the area, the Orava Castle.

The landscape is located in the northern central Slovakia and the Slovak name " Orava ", which originates from the same right Waagzufluss, is now used as an unofficial name given to this area and as the official designation of a tourist region.
