Osterburg (Verwaltungsgemeinschaft)

In the administration of the district of Stendal Osterburg Community in Saxony -Anhalt eleven municipalities were merged to perform their administrative business. One of the original six towns ( Duesedau, Erxleben, King Mark, Krevese, Meseberg and town Osterburg ( Altmark) ) came on 1 January 2005 the municipalities Ballerstedt, Flessau, Gladigau and Rossau from the dissolved Management Community Altmärkische height to on 21 July 2005 the communities Hindenburg and Walsleben. Hindenburg was incorporated into Hohenberg- Mark Kruse on 31 December 2008. The administrative headquarters was located in the town Osterburg ( Altmark). On 1 July 2009, the Hanseatic City of Osterburg ( Altmark) was formed from the member communities.

The administration Osterburg Community is located in the north of the state of Saxony- Anhalt. It includes a part of the northeastern Altmark and the southwestern part of the table flat Wipe. In the West, the administrative community Osterburg bordered on the Altmark Salzwedel ( district Gladigau ). Through the area of the joint management the light that opens in Osterburg in the piping flows ( such as flows Aland in the same ).

Agriculture and small craft businesses dominate the villages in the northern Altmark ( in the Brushes grazing ). As unfavorable for economic development is considered the great distance to the motorway network. The administrative community is traversed by the main road and the railway line 189 Magdeburg- Wittenberg.
