Ottendorf at the Rittschein is a municipality with 1503 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district Fürstenfeld or political district Hartberg - Fürstenfeld in Styria.

Community structure

Katastralgemeinden are (area 2001): Breitenbach ( 148.95 ha), Ottendorf ( 615.65 ha), Walkersdorf ( 360.53 ha) and goat mountain ( 300.70 ha).

The municipality comprises the following four localities ( in parentheses population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Breitenbach (92 )
  • Ottendorf at the Rittschein ( 782 )
  • Walkersdorf ( 354)
  • Mountain goats (276 )

Incorporations

On 1 January 1969 Walkersdorf Ottendorf were assigned to the District Commission Fürstenfeld and united to the new community Ottendorf at the Rittschein.

History

Ottendorf comes from " village of otto ". The places in the municipality were founded by Bavarian settlers in the 10th century. Ottendorf 1318 is first mentioned in writing in the book fief of the Bishop of Seckau.

Mountain goats was from 1850 a separate municipality within the jurisdiction in Fürstenfeld the District team field Bach while Breitenbach belonged to manage community Walkersdorf in the judicial district and in the district team field Bach from 1850. Only in 1935 was Ottendorf of Oed ( current community market Hartmann village) and separated into a separate municipality.

Policy

Mayor of the municipality is Josef Haberl of the ÖVP.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 June 1990. Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " quartered by red and gold plate, it farbverwechselt a geviertes cross, from whose arms ever a shamrock grows, in the first box to the right, the second upward into the third down and the fourth box to the left. "
