Otto Ruff

Karl Otto Ruff ( born December 30, 1871 in Schwäbisch Hall, † September 17, 1939 in Breslau) was a German chemist.

Ruff studied chemistry in Berlin, where he became a PhD as an academic student of Oskar Piloty. He was professor of chemistry at the then German University of Breslau (now poln: Uniwersytet Wroclaw, Latin: Universitas Wratislaviensis ). His research interests were the fluorine chemistry, which he promoted critical, but also the chemistry of carbohydrates, Ruff degradation bears his name. Uranium hexafluoride he introduced first time in 1909 dar.

The Association of German Chemists awarded him the Liebig Medal.
