Ozyory, Moscow Oblast

Osjory (Russian Озёры ) is a town with 25,800 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in Russia in the southern Moscow Oblast. It lies on the left bank of the Oka, 157 km south-east of Moscow and 30 km southwest of the city of Kolomna.

History

Osjory walked out of the village Ozerki forth, whose name literally means " small lakes " and can be explained in fact by several smaller lakes in this shallow area of the left bank of Oka. First mention of the village dates back to 1578th Since 1851, the place under the present name is known and has at the same time home to several textile factories. 1925 received Osjory, now a major light industrial settlement, the city status.

Economy and infrastructure

To date, there Osjory in a textile factory, other industries mainly produce in the food sector. Car and rail connections are mainly about Kolomna. Osjory has a terminus at a railway branch line that branches off from the line Moscow - Ryazan -Kazan in Kolomna.
