PÃ¥l Thowsen

Pål Thowsen ( born July 15, 1955 in Lillestrøm ) is a Norwegian jazz drummer.

Thowsen first appeared professionally in 1973 with the quartet of Jon Eberson on. He earned as a member of Arild Andersen Quartet ( 1974-1979 ), with whom he performed throughout Europe and four albums grossed an international reputation. He also worked with pianist Ketil Bjørnstad, with whom he recorded several albums 1974-1990. He also belonged from 1977 to the quintet of singer Radka Toneff. For the LP No Time For Time 1977 he received the Spellemannprisen. From 1981 to 1984 he was a member of the trio of guitarist Terje Rypdal, 1982-1997 jazz punk ensemble. He is currently working with the group of Dag Arnesen and a trio of Sinnika Langeland.

Thowsen teaches at the Norwegian Music College.
