PÃ¥l Varhaug

Pål Varhaug (* January 26, 1991 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian race car driver.

Career

Varhaug began his motorsport career in karting in 1996, which he held until 2006. In the year he won the Norwegian Junior Champion title. In 2007 he moved to Jenzer Motorsport for which he raced in various Formula Renault championships. The most successful was Varhaug in the Swiss series, in which he was runner-up. In 2008 he stayed with Jenzer Motorsport. As he reached 2.0 Eurocup 14th place in Formula Renault, he won the championship title of the Italian Formula Renault. 2009 started Varhaug for Jenzer Motorsport in the International Formula Master. While his teammate Fabio Leimer dominant won the championship title, Varhaug achieved five podium finishes and finished the season fifth overall. Behind Alexander Rossi, he was the second- best rookie.

2010 remained at Varhaug Jenzer Motorsport and moved with the team in the newly formed GP3 Series. With a win in the first race of the new series, he made ​​history. In the following race, however, it did not succeed to build on the initial success and he could not get into the points. At the end of the season, he finished 13th overall. 2011 moved to Varhaug DAMS and competed in the GP2 Asia and GP2 Series. In the GP2 Asia Series, he was at the end of season 13, while his team- mate Romain Grosjean won the title. In the GP2 Series season were similar. While Grosjean decided the championship, Varhaug remained without points and finished the season on top of the 23 overall.

2012 took Varhaug for Virtuosi UK participated in the Auto GP World Series. First, he had only one contract for the first event. In this he won for a second place in the first race the second race and took over the lead of the championship. Varhaug kept the cockpit and finished the season with three victories in second place in the drivers' standings. With 183 to 221 he defeated the champion Adrian Quaife - Hobbs. 2013 Varhaug returned back to the GP2 series. He received a cockpit at Hilmer Motorsport. The third event, he was replaced by Jon Lancaster. He had scored no points.
